Newsflash! Our newest web site is operational!
After I rebuilt the web site last year, I was not satisfied with the speed of the web site (it seemed very slow to me), so we now have a new web site that has a number of better features: It is faster. I think the menu is both more simple and more efficient (and all on just ONE line). It is multi-lingual (the translations may not be perfect, but let us know if it is good enough!)....so everything is in Spanish or whatever you prefer. The search feature works better, I think. But let me know what you think!
In March of this year I was invited by Deacon Frank & Mona Segura to come to El Paso TX and lead a training for both new and experienced Sponsor Couples. I led a Training in English; Deacon Frank led a Training in Spanish. The day went very well; the feedback from the couples was great. I spend Friday and Saturday night at the home of Frank and Mona so we would have plenty of time to talk about the "state of marriage preparation" in the Diocese of El Paso and Frank's plans. For decades the diocese has promoted the use of For Better & For Ever and it was nice to learn firsthand that Frank and Mona are strongly committed to parish based marriage preparation and the use of sponsor couples.
In May I helped with 2 weddings that were just a week apart and the brides were very close friends....so many family members and guests were at both weddings.
On May 11th, Rebecca Orth & David West married at St. Martha in Kingwood TX (a suburb of Houston). I had been the priest at her parent’s wedding (John & Kerry Orth), so Rebecca & David wanted me to do the same for them.
Then on May 18th, we gathered at the tiny town of Dubina TX for the wedding of David Tiprigan and Elissa Burton. How tiny? The not very large church is the biggest building in the town that was the first Czech settlement in Texas.
Both couples took full advantage of marriage preparation. I want them to help other couples after they are married. David & Rebecca are both Catholic and both have been very active in ministry to Young Adults. They will be a good sponsor couple. David & Elissa are beginning the journey of learning to be an "interchurch" couple. David is Baptist. Elissa is Catholic. Helping other couples will give them opportunities to strengthen their own Christian marriage.
Peace and Love,
Fr. Rob
Rebecca Orth & David West married at St. Matha in Kingwood TX.
David Tiprigan & Elissa Burton married at St. Cyril & Methodias in Dubina TX. It is the first Czech settlement in TX. The church is one of the finest of the painted churches.
