Twenty Places to Find Couples for the parish Sponsor Couple ™ ministry team.- Macalintal/Wagner

Twenty Places to Find couples for the Sponsor Couple ministry team.  See p. 102 of Joined by the Church, Sealed by a Blessing (Macalintal/Wagner)

To serve on a Sponsor Couple  ministry team is a big commitment. But believe it or not, there are people in your parish who are looking to make a big commitment. Sometimes we undersell the commitment people have to make. All that does is say to the volunteer, “I’m not really going to ask very much of you because I don’t think you’d really want to do this anyway.” Try the opposite. Emphasize the important contribution that Sponsor Couple  ministry makes to the lives of the engaged couples and how essential it is that couples like them make a sacrifice for the sake of the next generation of families. Here’s a list of twenty kinds of couples to ask to be sponsors:

1. Couples who have gone through the RCIA process
2. Couples who were married in your parish five or more years ago
3. The parents of newlyweds
4. The parents of an adult or older child who was recently baptized
5. The parents of the children who have celebrated First Communion within the last five years
6. The parents of teens who were confirmed within the last five years

13. All the ushers and their spouses
14. All the choir members and their spouses
